David D. Richardson, Sr., passed away, Monday, October 6, 2025.
Beloved husband of Sandy Crihfield-Richardson (nee Coyle). Dear father of David Richardson, Jr. and Matthew Richardson. Proud grandpa of Rorie, Penny, Aiden and Fallon. Dearest brother of Robin Gilbert. Dear uncle of Elizabeth and Jacob. Dearest brother-in-law, uncle, cousin and friend of many. David is preceded in death by his parents, Darrell and Marjorie Richardson and his brother, Dane Richardson.
David was born on April 21, 1954 in Houston, Texas to Darrell and Marjorie Richardson. His family relocated from Texas to Kirkwood, Missouri when he was very young. David spent his childhood and youth in Kirkwood and after graduating from high school, he enrolled at UMSL where he earned his Bachelor's degree. David spent most of his career with Central Mining Equipment and then retired after 30 plus years of service.
David was a devoted father and was involved in his son's lives, spending time with them in scouting, fishing, camping and many other adventures. David met the love of his life, Sandy, on the world-wide web and they became instant friends which developed into a lasting relationship. David asked Sandy's dad for her hand in marriage in 2009, and her dad said, "You'll have to take the whole thing." After 19 years of a happy engagement, they decided to tie the knot on September 28, 2025. Sandy was his princess and he treated her as such!
David found much enjoyment in life spending time at the grill, BBQing for family and friends. He loved spending time outdoors fishing and going on float trips. David also loved sitting on the back porch, watching the birds and clouds go by. He was well-read and educated and loved to have deep and meaningful conversations. He loved to help others and often performed acts of kindness anonymously, without thought of recognition or reward. He was lovingly referred to as "Davey-Wavey" by his father-in-law, a nick name that followed him from then on. He even signed his name with a waving hand. David will forever be remembered by all who knew and loved him as a kind, sweet, loving and gentle soul. He will be deeply missed.
