I can't think of my childhood and not think of Hotshot, walking up and down the road keeping his pups safely by his side. Always smiling and greeting you. I don't get home much, but the memories are always there and the people who helped make them will never be forgotten. Rest in Peace.

David "Hotshot" Rigney, 64, of Evarts, passed away Monday, January 25, 2016, at the UK Medical Center following a long illness. Born June 14, 1951 in Harlan County, he was a former milk delivery man and a member of the Yocum Creek Fire Department. He believed in the Baptist faith.Hotshot was preceded in death by his parents, Dollie Lynch Rigney and Clyde Rigney; and a half-brother, James Clyde Rigney.Survivors include two sisters, Mary Lou Furgerson and husband, Billy, Evarts; Dottie Sue Rigney, Evarts; a brother, Lee Earl Rigney, Middlesboro; and a host of nieces and nephews, other family and friends.Visitation will be held Wednesday from 5 until 8 pm at the Evarts Funeral Home.Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, January 28, 2016, at 2 pm in the Chapel of the Evarts Funeral Home with the Reverend Don Johnson officiating.Burial will follow in the Evarts Memorial Gardens with family and friends serving as pallbearers.Condolences may be left for the family at www.evartsfuneralhome.com.Evarts Funeral Home is in charge of his arrangements.
