David Glenn Rushlow

David Glenn Rushlow, age 94, resident of Hume Township, passed away Saturday, November 23, 2024 at his home.

He was born September 2, 1930 in Riverview, MI to the late Charles and Irene Rushlow.

David and Betty Rushlow were united in marriage on May 7, 1970 in Bad Axe.  She preceded him in death on January 25, 2013.

He worked for Detroit Edison in Riverview and in 1970 requested and accepted an available transfer to Bad Axe, MI.  He remained there for 11 years, before moving to the island of Maui, Hawaii with his wife.  They enjoyed traveling before their health started to fail.  David also enjoyed woodworking, crafting furniture, bird watching, collecting duck figurines, landscaping, and doing indoor and outdoor building and remodeling projects for himself and friends.  Up until his passing, he continued to enjoy visiting with family, attending local family events when he was well enough, reading, bird watching, crossword puzzles, taking care of his two cats, and going to Walt’s Restaurant in Caseville to visit with friends and he was very fond of the staff there.

He is survived by his children, Rachel Rushlow of Wayne, MI and Roberta (Ed) Fitch of Tustin, MI and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  He enjoyed a close relationship with his grandson Curtis.

David is also survived by his two stepchildren, Darrell (Linda) Jury of Bad Axe, MI and Jayne Mills of Lincoln Park, MI; several step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren; sister-in-law Marian Callen of Cranbrook, British Columbia; and his two beloved cats Cleo and Chloe.

By David’s wishes there will be no visitation or services.  Memorials may be offered to the Thumb Animal Shelter.  Arrangements are being handled by MacAlpine Funeral Home in Bad Axe, MI.  Condolences may be shared at www.macalpinefuneralhome.com.
