Not sure what to say?

David and Sue

We were saddened to hear of the passing of your son, Chet. You are in our thoughts and prayers. May you find peace in the days to come. Thoughts with his wife and family, as well to Aunt Sheila and David's sisters.

Sounds like he made any party better, lagging moments a little brighter and strangers' burdens lighter. Heaven probably needed a cook, one that could do barbecue. Know there were people in heaven to greet him. While he will be missed in...

In loving memory of a wonderful person. I will love you and miss you always.

Sending my love and prayers during this awfully hard time. I’m so sad to hear of Chet’s passing. I worked with Chet for many years. He definitely was very king and giving. So sorry for your sweet loss.

I am sorry to hear this, I have so many memories growing up. Prayers go out to the family. I love you all.

Chester! I’m so sad you’re gone! You were a soul full of sunshine and you blessed everyone that came into your world!!! I’ll forever cherish the memories we created and I’ll never forget your huge smile!!

Obituary

David's Obituary

Chet was born April 26, 1983, in Murray, UT. He was the youngest son of David R. and Suellen Spencer and grew up in Bluffdale, UT as a member of the Church. He attended Rosamond, Southland, & Bluffdale Elementary schools, Oquirrh Hills Middle School, and was a member of the 2001 graduating class of Riverton High School. He passed away unexpectedly October 17, 2025. His family is deeply saddened by this immense loss of a great husband, son, brother, uncle, and cousin. Chet was a wonderful man who loved life and lived it to its fullest.

Family was always important to Chet. He became an uncle while a teenager. It was a title he cherished, and a job he jumped into. He was the “fun uncle” and took great pride in his role. At family parties he was always greeted with a hug and an enthusiastic “Hi Uncle Chet!” He loved his nieces and nephews and treated them as close friends. In addition to the gifts that he gave for birthdays and holidays, he made it a tradition to include a “dad joke” on the card. He also delighted in giving those noisy toys that kids love (but parents hate), or a treasure that their moms and dads would never have purchased.

In 2017 he met the love of his life Lindsay Spencer. They were married February 12, 2018, on a cruise in St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands. They bought a home in West Valley City and loved to entertain friends there. Together they attended many concerts, shows, sporting events, and were always on the lookout for great restaurants. Once they drove 3 hours to Cedar City, just to try out a pizza place they heard was delicious. It wasn't always about the destination for Chet, but the adventures along the way.

He was loved tremendously by his new family, and they were a significant blessing to him in life. Lindsay and Chet had a few dogs, and he loved caring for them. He is now reunited with Louie, who passed over the rainbow bridge this summer, which was a hard loss for them.

While he loved to play video games and watch movies – which he could often quote – he also spent a lot of time fishing. He loved to fish and was only a morning person on fishing days. He’d get up early to travel far to be able to enjoy the time outdoors, casting his line. He loved ice fishing and had all the gear to keep warm and make it an enjoyable day. He had many hobbies and sought to learn and become an expert in each of them. One year at work he won a gift card to Costco, which allowed him to purchase his cherished Traeger Smoker. He loved to cook for friends and family and was always on the lookout for the best barbecue rub or sauce.

Chet loved his sports teams. He was an avid Utes fan and often wore his Utah hat and hoodie. The Pittsburgh Steelers was his favorite NFL team. He loved hockey too and was able to attend the Utah Hockey Club player introduction day at the Delta Center. The TV news interviewed him there, and he told them how he looked forward to cheering on the new team. https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/otsl1tbx8n5aziwdr51cg/chet_news.mp4?rlkey=xh9t8k7ouou9qu0jyqv271txc&dl=0

Chet was always happy to help others and was generous with his time and talents. He would lend a hand to anyone who asked. He had a kind soul and could make friends and strike up a conversation with anyone. Lindsay always teased him that they couldn’t go anywhere without running into one of his friends or relatives.

Chet, you will be greatly missed and forever remembered. We hope you’ve grabbed a Pepsi in heaven, and we’ll always think of you when we have a can in your honor.

Chet is survived by his parents David R. and Suellen Webster Spencer, wife Lindsay Spencer, siblings and their spouses and children D. Chuck & Aleah Spencer, D. Chad & Alison Spencer, and Grandma Sheila R. Spencer. Preceded in death by grandparents Robert L. and Beth Webster, and Melvin B. Spencer.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, October 24th, at 11:00 a.m. at the Bluffdale Church on the Hill, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 14400 S. Redwood Road, Bluffdale, Utah. Friends and Family may call Friday from 10:00-10:45 a.m. prior to the services at the church.
