David's Obituaries

David H. Sudyka, 71, died Thursday in Holyoke. He was born in Holyoke, son of the late Peter and Rena (Hall) Sudyka and grew up in South Hadley. He served in the Coast Guard aboard the Coast Guard Cutter USGC Duane, which was engaged in its first enemy action since WWII as part of Operation Market Time during the Vietnam War. He was a member of American Legion Post 438 and was a lifetime member of the South Hadley Sporting Club. David loved the Red Sox, the Patriots and car shows. He especially loved going to the Buttery Brook Cruise Night with his brother. He also enjoyed camping and building fires. He was predeceased by his wife Nano (Kennedy) Sudyka in 2013 and his sister Donna Sudyka Clayton in 1985. He leaves his son David B. Sudyka of South Hadley, his daughter Tara Dawn Sudyka of South Hadley, two brothers Peter Sudyka and his wife Evelyn of South Hadley and John Sudyka and his wife Mary of Punta Gorda, FL, his sister Diane Jeserski of Feeding Hills, two grandchildren Jarrett and Savannah and several nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews. The funeral will be Tuesday May 2, 2017 starting with calling hours at the Curran-O’Brien Funeral Home from 9:30 to 11:30 am. The funeral home service will follow at 11:30 am. Burial in the Massachusetts Veterans Cemetery with Military Honors at 1:00 pm. Donations can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675.
