David J Tarantino

David J. Tarantino of Suffern NY passed away June 18, 2010 at the age of 80. Born September 17, 1929 in NYC to Simon and Frances Tarantino Dave was a graduate of St. Nicholas Tolentine in the Bronx NY, and A graduate of RCC and Empire State. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean War with the 224 Infantry Regiment L Company – Galahad. He was retired from the New York City Police Department as Captain, of the Patrol Borough Manhattan South Operations. He was a life member of the VFW Post 2973 in Suffern as Chaplin and Secretary; he was also member of the Fromm Maxwell DeBaun American Legion in Suffern, a life member of Rockland ARC, and an avid reader and crossword puzzle player. He married his Beloved Wife Audrey (Milde) Tarantino on October 11, 1958 and is survived by her and his three children, Della Marie Russell and her husband Sean of Greenville NY, Elizabeth Ann Lempka and her husband Theodore of Gilford, NH, and David Tarantino and his wife Bernadette of Hillburn, NY his grandchildren, Christopher Lempka, Matthew Russell, Jean Marie Russell, James Strysko, Meghan Grace Tarantino, and David Joseph Tarantino, he was pre deceased by his son Steven Daniel, and his brothers and sisters Peter, Victoria, Louis Joseph, and Josephine, he is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated on Wednesday at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Church in Suffern burial will follow at the Cemetery of the Ascension in Airmont NY. Friends may call on Monday and Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 Pm at the Scarr Funeral Home Inc Route 202 Suffern.
