It is with deep love and respect that we announce the passing of a devoted family man, proud Vietnam veteran, and dedicated civil servant.Born in Sanford, Maine on August 19, 1946, to Jack and Gladys Waddington, David Waddington of Palm Coast, Florida was a graduate of Sanford High School who answered the call to service in the Vietnam War, where he demonstrated courage, resilience, and unwavering commitment to his fellow service members. He continued his lifelong service as an active member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, proudly serving on the VFW Color Guard.After returning home, he married the love of his life, Theresa Bunker, on June 21, 1969 and together they raised daughter, Melissa, and son, Keith, as well as granddaughter, Alexis. He went on to build a respected career at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, where his work ethic, reliability, and pride in his craft earned him the admiration of colleagues and friends alike. He took great pride in contributing to the strength and readiness of our nation’s fleet. David was a loving husband and father who enjoyed spending time with his family. They enjoyed trips camping throughout New England, as well as summer days at Square Pond in Acton. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed snowmobiling with friends. David also participated as a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians Pipes and Drums along with his granddaughter Alexis, traveling locally as well as to Canada and overseas playing in festivals and parades.He is survived by his beloved wife, Theresa, his daughter, Melissa Hart, and her husband, David Hart, and their children, Juliet Haines and husband Brice Haines, Ashley Hart, and Danielle Hart all of West Virginia, granddaughter, Alexis Waddington of Florida, sister-in-law, Christine Bunker of Florida, and his two siblings, sister, Sylvia Morrill of Florida, and brother, Wayne Waddington and his wife Claire of Florida.David was predeceased by his son, Keith Waddington and his parents, Jack and Gladys Waddington.A celebration of life service will be held in Maine during the summer. Though we mourn his loss, we honor a life well lived – a life of service, sacrifice, and steadfast love. May he rest in eternal peace, and may we carry forward the values he held so dear. The Waddington Family has entrusted arrangements for David to Clymer Funeral Home & Cremations.
