R.I.P. cousin Dave, save a seat for me with Aunt Januce and Great Gramma. Sorry we got distant but I'll never forget the fun we all had growing up.

Dawn and girls, my heart goes out to you all. Dave was such a nice caring man and I am certain he left this mark in this world. To Dawn...you guys had a love that others hope for. To his girls, may his spirit live on through you both. Sending love and comfort in this difficult time.

David C. “Dave” Wentworth, 56, of Sebring, FL (formerly of Fitchburg, MA)July 5, 1969 – August 28, 2025
David C. Wentworth, known lovingly by many as “Dave,” passed away peacefully on August 28, 2025, in Sebring, FL, surrounded by his loving family, his best friend Tommy, and his beloved dog Diesel, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born on July 5, 1969, in Groton, MA, to the late Janice M. (Amirault) Wentworth, Dave spent most of his life in Fitchburg before fulfilling a lifelong dream with his wife to move to Sebring in 2021.
Dave is survived by the love of his life and best friend, his wife of 32 years, Dawn Wentworth, with whom he shared many cherished years even before marriage. He took immense pride in being a devoted father to his daughters, Samantha Wentworth of Sebring, FL, and Ashlee Wentworth and her significant other Nick Eaton of Lunenburg, MA. He is also survived by his brothers, Duane Wentworth of Fitchburg, MA, and Robert Wentworth and wife Lori of Orange, MA; his lifelong best friend Tom Walsh and wife Tamara of Ashburnham, MA; his godchild Jacob Salafia of Fitchburg, MA; and his faithful companion Diesel. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and friends who he loved deeply.
He was predeceased by his mother Janice, grandmother Emily Amirault, brother William Wentworth, niece Randi Wentworth, mother-in-law Bette St. Martin, father-in-law Eugene St. Martin, and brother-in-law Thomas Neforas.
Dave spent many years working as a tow truck driver in Fitchburg before joining Whitney & Son’s in 2011 as a road mechanic for the aggregate industry. Traveling across New England in his spotless service truck, which he took great pride in—he became a leader in his field, even training others in Metso equipment. In 2021, he continued his professional journey at Kelly Tractor in Florida as a Technical Communicator, serving general line sales out of the Fort Myers branch until 2025.
More than his work, Dave’s greatest accomplishment was being a “girl dad” and a devoted husband. He loved spending time with his beautiful wife and daughters. A lifelong volunteer, Dave gave back to his community through the Good Sam camping club as a teen advisor, participated in the Relay for Life (once receiving an award for traveling the farthest to attend), and served for many years on Fitchburg’s Emergency Management team, including responding to the tragic 1999 Worcester Cold Storage fire.
Dave was a proud “Disney adult,” first visiting in May 1993 and later becoming a passholder in 2021. He especially loved EPCOT and the Food & Wine Festival. An avid fan of flight and space, he never missed a rocket launch, often setting his alarm in the middle of the night just to watch. Christmas was his favorite holiday, and his mission was always to have the most lights on the street. An avid NASCAR fan, Dave would attend many races with his wife and friends. He loved camping, traveling with family and friends, and helping anyone—or any animal—in need.
Dave was an extraordinary man, known for his huge heart, great laugh, sharp skills, and unwavering love for those around him. His legacy will live on in the lives he touched and the family he adored.
As the quote from Moana that Dave loved so dearly says:“There is nowhere you could go that I won’t be with you.”
