David Markham Withers, 82, husband of Hilda Pauline Goodlett Withers, passed away on March 7, 2026, at his residence in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky. Born March 3, 1944, in Bowling Green, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Thomas Withers and Roberta Markham Withers.
David was a 1964 graduate of Valley High School in Louisville, Kentucky, and formerly worked as a machinist at TOPY. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy, a commitment he cherished throughout his life. He had a deep love for his family, especially spending time with his grandchildren and supporting them in their activities. David was an enthusiastic supporter of Anderson County football, capturing countless memories on video, including the historic undefeated season of the 1986 Anderson County Bearcats, when his son Mark played. He also enjoyed traveling and bowling with his wife, as well as fishing, reflecting his love for life, family, and his country.
Including his beloved wife, Hilda, of 58 years, David is survived by his son, Mark Withers of Frankfort, Kentucky; his grandsons, Dillon and Tyler Withers; and his brother, Richard Withers of New Mexico.
Along with his parents, David was preceded in death by his siblings, Claire Vachon, Rebecca Sanford, Steven Withers, and Anthony Withers.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home, 701 N. Main Street, Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, with Bro. Noal Cotton, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Sand Spring Baptist Church Cemetery, 1616 Harrodsburg Road, Lawrenceburg, Kentucky. Visitation will be held prior to the funeral service on Thursday from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions in memory of David may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 2808 Palumbo Drive, Suite 205, Lexington, Kentucky 40509.
