Deacon Carl's Obituary

Deacon Carl Redding, Sr. of 609 West 17th Avenue, Cordele, Georgia died Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at the South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta, Georgia.

The graveside funeral service to be attended by the immediate family ONLY will be held Monday, February 1, 2021 at 12:00 Noon at the Bethel Cemetery in Cordele, Georgia.  Everyone in attendance is asked to please wear a mask and to practice social distancing.

Carl Redding was born October 18, 1964 in Cordele, Crisp County, Georgia.  He was the oldest of the four sons born to Ms. Minnie Evelyn Redding.

Carl was enrolled in the public schools of Crisp County.  He was actively involved in school activities as he grew up.  A 1982 graduate of Crisp County High School, he believed in fully supporting Cougar  sporting events.  Upon the completion of the high school Carl enlisted in the United States Army.

As a child he accepted Christ as his personal Savior and worshipped at the Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church.  As an adult he continued serving the Lord and was ordained as a Deacon at Milldale Baptist Church.

Along with always supporting the Cougars, Carl was a member of the Masonic Lodge.  He was also a member of the American Legion.

There are so many things that Carl will be remembered for. One is love for football and “his” team.   All other Dallas Cowboys fans had to get in line behind him.  He was their #1 fan. He will be remembered as a “sharp” dresser.  The “Blazer King,” would always turn head with his blazers and caps.

Family meant everything to him.  He took pride in being a great Dad.  He loved his family and always enjoyed spending time with his son, KD.  Carl also loved the special moments he shared with his J. W.   Williams Funeral Home family.  He always talked about being able to return to work.

On Tuesday, January 26, 2021 because he heard a voice we could not hear, because he saw a light we could not see, he made peace and surrendered to the will of the Master.  We will forever cherish the many memories shared with him.

His light will continue to shine bright in the hearts of his wife, Mrs. Michelle Redding of Cordele, Georgia; his children, Ms. Zantrissa S. Battle, Mr. Carl Redding, Jr., Ms. Sharkerria T. Redding, Ms. Karlaysia M. Redding, and Mr. Kardarius J.
