Mr. Waldo will be greatly missed in our neighborhood. Almost daily he could be seen strolling the streets sometimes singing, always ready with a friendly wave and sometimes stopping for a chat. Thankful he is with Jesus and at the same time I am so sorry for your loss.

Deacon Ivory Waldo Pugh was born to Percy Pugh and Irene Hawkins in Beaumont, Texas, on June 10, 1947, and was a lifelong resident and active member of the community.
He accepted Christ at an early age and served as an altar boy at a local Catholic church. He later served as an usher at Johnson Memorial Missionary Baptist Church and as a deacon at Saints Temple COGIC.
He would receive his formal education in the Beaumont Independent School District. He worked in construction, including at Perkins Construction as a roofer. He enjoyed playing dominoes, watching Western and Action movies, and attending sporting events. He enjoyed true crime stories as well.
Ivory married Reesie Kemp of Silsbee, Texas, and they were together for over 52 years. They raised four children together.
Ivory departed this life on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont. He was preceded in death by his parents, Percy Pugh and Irene Hawkins Phillips; his brothers, Johnnie Pugh, Ira "Pete" Pugh, Jill "Pap" Pugh, and Lonnie "Tootsie" Pugh; his sister, Gladys Marie Phillips; and his granddaughter, Kia Lareese Solomon.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Reesie Pugh; his sons, Nekia Pugh (Sherrell) and Jonathan Pugh (Barbara); his daughters, Tameka Pugh Bourne (Norris) and Tara Kemp; sister, Anetta Pugh Benard, 15 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.
