Deacon Parks

1948-2023

“MAY THE WORK I’VE DONE SPEAK FOR ME”

Deacon Robert Lee Parks (Jr) was born August 22, 1948, to Lee Robert and Nancy Parks in Houston, Texas. He accepted Christ in his life at an early age and was baptized at Mt Canaan Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. T.J. Compton.

Robert Parks attended Settegast Elementary School and graduated from B.C. Elmore High School in 1966. After graduation, he was employed at Deluxe Check Printing Company. for over 25 years until retirement at the age of 47. In 1996 he opened Lee’s Family Restaurant in Settegast where he was affectionally known as “Mr. Lee”. - He would always say “The Lord has blessed me to retire at an early age, so I want to bless my community by giving employment opportunities and by giving them a place to go”. Robert never met a stranger and would help anyone. He was the most generous, caring, and sharing person you would ever know. He enjoyed his life to the fullest and always had a joke or a tease because he loved to laugh. He was well known and respected and thought of himself as ‘The King of Settegast’. In 2005, he was employed at the waterfront where he enjoyed working with all people. If you needed employment, he would do his best to help you. He loved his job, and he left a great impression on those he encountered.   He was also a member of Eastgate Masonic Lodge #329. Robert was a faithful member of Mt. Canaan Church under the leadership of Pastor Samuel Compton until his death. He served as a member of the choir, the brotherhood, and a proud Deacon for 31 years. He worked in the church with the Young Men for Christ, a group he took pride in serving and leading to be great young men of God.  Not only did he mentor in the church but also many young men in and around Settegast.  Many people knew many things about Robert, but we all knew he was a God-fearing man who loved the Lord.

Mr. Lee departed this life on December 13, 2023. His soul left its temporary lodging and took its eternal abode in heaven. The ultimate death of Robert Lee (Jr) Parks leaves an irreplaceable void in the hearts of family, friends, and all who were touched by his life. He was preceded in death by his father Lee Robert Parks and niece Cassondra Johnson. He leaves to cherish his memory his mother Nancy L. Parks, Sister Shirley A. King of Houston, Texas, and Brother Kenneth W. Parks (Jackie) of Dallas, Texas.  His daughters Ramona D. Myers (Rondel) of Fontana, California, Teresa A. Henderson (Rodney) of Crosby, Texas, Tiffany Paul (Roosevelt) of Houston, Texas, Nekita Smith-Jalomo (Liza) of Houston, Texas, Sons Albert L. Parks (Denise) of Houston, Texas, Roshon Phipps (Danyell) of Houston, Texas, Tramaine Woodard (Merita) of Houston, Texas, God-Daughter Kort’ne Sneed (Houston, TX) Grandkids, Great Grandkids, Aunts, Nieces, Nephews, and a host of cousins.
