Dean Rivard is one of the most honorable men I know. I grew up in Burkburnett and attended St. Jude Catholic Church. I remember Dean and my Dad, and a handful of men from that generation doing almost all the work to help keep the church afloat. Hardworking men, military men that fought for their country, and family men that valued faith, loved ones, and life. Dean's Obituary

Dean Francis Rivard, 92, of Burkburnett,passed away Tuesday, February 17, 2026. 

 The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 10am Saturday, February 28, 2026 at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church in Burkburnett with Rev. Sam Ferix Celebrant.  A reception will be held immediately following the service at the St. Jude Parish Hall.  Arrangements are under the direction of Owens and Brumley Funeral Home of Burkburnett. 

Dean was born on October 10, 1933 in Baudette, Minnesota to the late Thomas and Pearl Rivard. He married the love of his life, Leona, on June 1, 1953 in Baudette, Minnesota.  Dean joined the USAF and was a Bronze Star recipient as well as having received numerous exemplary service commendations.  Dean was a 4th Degree Knights of Columbus member and a faithful servant for the St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church for almost six decades. Dean is remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather.

He was preceded in death by his cherished wife, Leona; his parents, two brothers and two sisters.

Dean is survived by his sons, Darrel Rivard and wife Kathi of Prosper, Dennis Rivard and his wife Mary of Wichita Falls, and Dana Rivard and his wife Lisa of Weatherford; daughter, Lisa Thackerson and her husband Steve of Austin; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in honor of Dean to St. Jude Thaddues Catholic Church Maintenance Fund, 600 Davy Dr., Burkburnett, TX 76354
