Dear Frances, Dalton, Shiloh, and Cheyenne,
I want to express my deepest sympathy for your loss of Deatta. We became pals because she always came by the funeral home to sign the guest book when any Manor resident died. She usually stayed a bit to visit , and she would talk about her work (which caused me to have great respect for her- hearing the things she had to do for folks, but also the extra things she did for residents.). Deatta's Obituary

Deatta Kaye Sparks, 63, of Spearman passed away on July 9,2025.   Visitation will be on Friday, July11, 2025 9:00a.m.-9:00p.m. and Saturday July 12, 2025 9:00a.m. untill 10:00p.m.  Graveside services will be on Saturday, July 12, 2025, 1:00p.m. at the Hansford Cemetary, with Rev. Phillip Hudson officiating.  Arrangements are under the direction of Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Spearman.

Deatta was born on November 29,1961 to James Scroggs and Francis Sturgeon in Spearman, Texas.  She was a member of the Apostolic Faith Church in Spearman.

She was a CNA and worked many years at  the  Hansford Manor in Spearman until she retired in  2018 and was a very hard worker.  She was a loving mother and grandmother to her 7 grandchildren.  

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, James Scroggs, David Scroggs and her step- father, Don Pond and Uncle Tilden Scroggs.

Deatta is survived by her son, Dalton and wife Nataly Sparks of Gruver, daughters, Shyloh and husband Ty Moore of Whitedeer, TX., Cheyenne and husband Jeff Coates of Spearman. Her half-siblings, Yvonda and Jacob.  She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Jailyn, Jax, T.J., Aubree, Presley, Brycen and Hayden.
