Deborah Lee Baranowski, 64, died Thursday, July 3, 2025. Born in Groton, CT, she was the daughter of the late Leola and Leland Smith.
Deborah was an avid card player (especially Phase 10), loved sitting in the sun, shopping with her sisters, and watching the Game Show Network, but her greatest love was spending time with her grandchildren and her beloved dog, Peanut. In her younger years, she attended many concerts and loved all types of music and was a NASCAR fan, her favorite driver being Rusty Wallace.
In addition to her parents, Deborah was also preceded in death by her husband, John R. Baranowski, Sr. and her sister, Tina Peyton. Survivors include her son, John R. Baranowski, Jr. and his wife, Crystal; her siblings, Claire Clark, Vance Smith, and Tammy Durham; her grandchildren, Savannah Perry, Trista Baranowski, Taylor Baranowski, and Craig Schnoebelen, Jr.; and her great-grandson, Aiden Bazemore, Jr.
The family will receive friends from 3:00-4:30 Sunday, July 6, 2025, at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home. A graveside service will be conducted at noon on Tuesday, July 8 at Hampton Memorial Gardens.
