Debbie was a friend of mine in elementary school. We played together at recess and exchanged notes in class. Our friendship continued in high school to a lesser extent. I am so saddened to hear of her passing.

Debbie was a lifelong friend from our school days in Flushing schools, class of 1970. A favorite memory was being a cheerleader with her. Another was her efforts to give me a surprise 16th birthday party.

We shared a lighthearted banter about our UM v MSU rivalry. I especially admired her commitment to being a UM band parent coordinating band squad support events. And I chuckled over the years at her MSU loyalty manifested in MSU attire for her grandchildren.

What a very bright light she was in the lives of so many kids in this community. From having her as a gym teacher in elementary school for a couple years to running into her throughout the many years that followed, she was always so high energy, positive, encouraging, helpful and excited to see others doing well. So thankful for her positive impact and for spreading such joy to so many. Prayers of comfort and peace of mind to her family and loved ones.

Debbie and I were in school together from elementary through high school! She always was a gracious person and incredibly kind. My condolences to her family.

Debbie was a great friend since I was a little kid. She was my first date in the mid 60’s. I took her to a dance party at Flushing Valley Country Club. She also taught my oldest daughter Phys Ed at Seymour. Great person great friend. So sorry for the families loss and for all of us that knew her. Bob Hough

Debbie always had a positive and energetic attitude. I loved teaching with her. She made me a better teacher.

I was very surprised to see this. My condolences to her family. She was always so friendly & upbeat. My girls had her as a gym teacher. I also thought a lot of her dad. Such a nice man.
