I didn't work with Debra for very long, but I didn't have to, she very quickly became one of my most favorite coworkers I have ever had! She was absolutely hilarious and I am so thankful that I had the opportunity to get to know her. Prayers for her friends and family, I know she will be dearly missed!

Debra Denise Mullenix-Jasper, age 69 of Somerset, passed away on Sunday, September 14, 2025 in Brodhead, KY.
Debra was born on January 31, 1956 in Los Angeles, CA, the daughter of Mae Lee Mullenix and Arthur Mullenix. A fiercely devoted Democrat, proud Kentucky colonel, and champion of the underdog, Debra devoted her life to helping others.
Debra’s care and advocacy touched many lives across her career in multiple humanitarian professions. Debra's passions included working with adults with special needs as well as impoverished families in Appalachia.
Her proudest achievement was obtaining her master's degree in her 50s. This opened the door for Debra to devote her final years as a licensed clinical social worker to a field especially close to her heart: substance abuse and rehabilitation counseling.
Debra loved all people of all walks of life and treasured her family more than anything. She leaves behind a son, Micah of Pittsburgh, PA; her daughter, Tiana McKinley of Atlanta, GA; her brother, Bill Wells of Mt. Vernon, KY; her sister, Jenny Rice of FL; and her niece, Debra Sowder of Mt. Vernon, KY. In addition to her parents, Mae and Arthur Mullinex, Debra was preceded in death by two brothers, Arthur and Robert Mullinex.
Deni Lou (as her beloved brother Bob called her) will be remembered for her love of making people laugh, her fondness for animals, singing along loudly to her favorite music, and a penchant for telling stories of her family’s many antics.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate Debra’s life on Friday, September 19, 2025 from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home, 1046 West Hwy 80, Somerset, KY 42503. In true Debra fashion, all are welcome.
