I have just seen on Facebook that DeForest has passed. My last cherished memories of him are when he was a smiling boy during our growing up days - after his family moved from the Westfield community to Wylam. We were next door neighbors. Just wanted to offer my sympathy and heartfelt condolences to DeForest’s family and acquaintances. I met him at Hostos Community College in the Bronx, New York. He observed several of my English language classes as a new faculty member at the college. I’m blessed to have met and exchanged with such an affable soul.
