Della Mae Shoop

Della Mae Shoop, 86, of Klemme, IA, a longtime resident of Paulden, and Prescott Valley, AZ, passed away, May 27, 2025, at the Good Samaritan Society Care Facility, Forest City, IA.    A public graveside service will be Friday, June 6, 2025, 11:00 AM, at the Ell Township Cemetery, Klemme, IA. The Reverend Deb Devine will officiate.  A time of fellowship, food and memory sharing will follow the graveside service at the Klemme Community Hall.  Andrews Funeral Homes, Klemme, IA, is handling funeral arrangements.      Della was the oldest of 7 children born to Howard and Idella (Janssen) Avery on January 1, 1939, in Meservey, IA.  She attended and graduated from Meservey Schools.    Della Mae married Douglas C. Shoop on November 16, 1958.  They were married for 63 years. Their union was blessed with four daughters.   Della retired from Humboldt United School District, Prescott Valley, AZ, as a kitchen cook.  She also drove school bus for many years.    Della enjoyed her road trips, driving across country.  Her passion was creating handicraft items, baking and canning. Della made the best pie crusts ever! Della enjoyed decorating special occasion cakes.   She is survived by her daughters: Deborah R. (Keith) Gustafson, of Belmond, IA, Donna M. (Tom) Ingram, of Porum, OK, Dawn R. (Mark Sr.) Long, of Paulden, AZ, and Dorothy A. (Joe) Melton, of Muskogee, OK; 12 grandchildren: Kenneth Gustafson, Angela Buksar, Rachel Walus, Ryan Adams, Deanna Jones, Ivy Ingram, Melissa Long, Nepule Long, Lorraine Headley, Amber Barton, Bobbie Jean DeLalla, Owen Barnett Jr.; 22 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. siblings: Diane (Avery) Davis, of Garner, IA, Doris (Avery) (Dennis) Peterson, of Norwalk, IA, Darwin (Brenda) Avery, of Ventura, IA, Denis (Wanda) Avery, of Meservey, IA; Dean (Rebecca) Avery, Meservey, IA;  sisters-in-law: Deborah (Darrell) Avery of Meservey, IA, Blanche Reicherts of Clear Lake, IA, and many nieces and nephews.    Della was preceded in death by her parents Howard and Idella Avery, brother Darrell Avery, beloved husband Douglas Shoop, grandchildren Claire Long and Mark Long Jr.     Expressions of sympathy, memorials and cards may be sent in care of Della Mae Shoop Family to 316 3rd Avenue, Belmond, IA 50421.Andrews Funeral Homes, Klemme, IA http://www.andrewsfuneralhomeandfloral.com 641-587-2510.
