Denice Alexis Coles, lovingly known to her family as “Buttons,” was called home on January 27, 2026. She was born on February 5, 1996, in Gary, Indiana, the beloved and only child of her mother, Gale E. Coles.
Buttons was a woman of faith who believed deeply in God and understood that her relationship with Him was special and personal.
Buttons was a graduate of Lew Wallace High School and, following graduation, worked in various positions within the grocery industry.
Buttons truly enjoyed spending time with her family, especially during family gatherings. She loved traveling, shopping, crafting, watching movies, and had a special love for all things Hello Kitty and Ghostbusters.
Buttons was deeply loved and will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her mother, Gale E. Coles; her grandparents, Vernon and Alma Coles; and her aunt and uncle, Henry and Phoebe Joseph.
She leaves to cherish her memory her “big brothers,” Michael (Margo) Joseph, Craig Joseph, Edward Joseph, and Shannon (Michele) Joseph; her longtime friend, Rochelle Jones; staff & caregivers, along with many cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.
