Dennis Lasher Krowe, of Scotch Plains, New Jersey, passed away on Sunday, January 18, 2026, at the age of 79.
Dennis was predeceased by his parents, Edward Krowe and Vivian (O’Connor) Krowe. He was particularly close to his late maternal grandmother, Emma (Lasher) O’Connor, whose influence during his early, formative years had a profound and lasting impact on his intellect, values, and lifelong love of history.
Dennis graduated from Clark High School, Class of 1964. He pursued extensive higher education throughout his life, reflecting a deep commitment to scholarship and learning. He studied Business Administration and American/European History at Tulane University, earning a Bachelor of Science. He later studied Corporate Accounting and Economics at Kean University. Dennis also studied Finance and Economics at New York University, earning a PhD; studied Economics and Finance at St. John’s University, Staten Island Campus, earning a Master of Science; and studied Law at Loyola University New Orleans College of Law.
From 1975 through 2023, Dennis resided in Scotch Plains, New Jersey. Professionally, he built a distinguished career in accounting and finance. He worked as a Banking Coordinator at ExxonMobil Corporation, serving in the Accounting Department at its Linden, New Jersey facility from 1974 to 1999. He later continued his career at Infinieum International LTD in Linden, New Jersey, where he worked from 1999 until his retirement in 2011.
Beyond his corporate career, Dennis was the Owner of K&K Historic Fabrics, Ltd., where, among other things, he received a Charter from the Queen of England to reproduce the traditional madder red of the British redcoats. He previously worked at Atelier du Chat Botté, pursuits that reflected his deep appreciation for craftsmanship, historical reenactment, and historical fidelity.
Dennis was an avid and serious scholar of Colonial America and the American Revolution, with particular expertise in the Colonial, British, and Hessian regiments that fought in New Jersey. From 1975 through 1990, he was actively involved in Revolutionary War reenactment, combining meticulous research with hands-on historical interpretation. His participation reflected both his scholarly rigor and his commitment to preserving and accurately portraying early American military history.
A 33° Master Freemason, Dennis was a proud member of the Scotchwood Masonic Center (Scottish Rite) in Scotch Plains, New Jersey, where he valued tradition, fellowship, and service.
Dennis is survived by his son, Timothy J. Prol, Esq., of Williamstown, New Jersey, to whom he imparted his wisdom, his love of scholarship, and his unwavering sense of principle. Dennis will be remembered for his intellect, discipline, and quiet generosity, as well as for his lifelong commitment to learning, history, and integrity.
Services will be held on Friday, January 23, 2026 at the Rossi Funeral Home, 1937 Westfield Avenue, Scotch Plains, New Jersey 07076, from 9:45 a.m. to 11:45 a.m., with interment to follow at Lutheran All Faiths Cemetery, 67-29 Metropolitan Avenue, Middle Village, New York 11379.
