Dennis Wayne Curtis, age 84, of Lakeside City, passed on to his eternal life on Monday, January 6, 2025.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 11, 2025, with visitation at 1:00 p.m. prior to the service at Aulds Funeral Home with his nephew, Gary Meek, officiating. Interment with military honors will follow under the direction Aulds Funeral Home of Archer City.
Wayne was born April 24, 1940, in Dallas, Texas to the late John Thomas Curtis and Jettie Lucille Gunter Curtis. He served his country honorably for six years in the United States Army.
He married the love of his life, Neva B. McLemore on May 16, 2003, at Possum Kingdom Lake. Neva loved the life and time they spent together. Wayne was a believer in Christ and made the decision to be baptized on August 5, 2024, with Neva by his side.
Wayne grew up in Dallas then moved to Possum Kingdom Lake for a total of twenty-seven years before moving to Wichita Falls where he owned and operated AAA Quality Roofing for over thirty years. His love of work gave him the opportunity to meet and serve new people.
Wayne enjoyed hunting and cooking. He was an excellent cook and an even better storyteller, some of it was even true. If you knew Wayne, you knew he had one of the biggest hearts you would ever find, he loved BIG. He was a solid friend for anyone who needed him and a man that made an impact on the people around him. He was extremely proud of his family, especially his grandsons and the men they have become.
Survivors include his wife Neva Curtis, one daughter, LynDee Groves and husband, Kevin, one step-son, Jessie Wilson and wife, Stacy, one step-daughter, Jackie Wood and husband, Glen; five grandchildren, Russell Groves and fiancé, Caroline Page, Brian Groves and wife, Camila, Cody Wood and wife, Rachel, Jaylen Reid and husband, Dylan and Sylas Wilson and Delaini Hanna; three great-grandchildren, Hayden, Jaxon and Rylee; one sister, Bobbie Cline, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one brother, James and sisters, Tennie, Lois, Peggy, Corrine, Lorrine, and Dorothy.
The family suggests memorials to the Archer City Cemetery Foundation, P.O. Box 198, Archer City, Texas 76351.
