Dixie's Obituary

Dixie Sue Knoblock, age 84 of Bremen, IN, passed away at 1:50 am on Friday, September 26, 2025 at Elkhart General Hospital after a brief illness.  Dixie was born on August 25, 1941 in Bremen to Floyd and Violet (Wise) Swartzlander.  She was a 1959 graduate of Bremen High School and lived her entire life in the Bremen area.  She was married to John Knoblock on April 30, 1966.  He preceded her in death in 1976.  Dixie worked for many years as a teller and loan secretary at Bremen State Bank and later First Source Bank in Bremen where she retired from in the mid 2000’s. Dixie attended the Bremen Church of Christ where she had volunteered as a bookkeeper/treasurer.  For many years Dixie enjoyed line-dancing with a local group in Bremen and she loved taking her dog on walks.  She was an avid watcher of “Survivor”.  Most of all, Dixie was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.  She loved, and was very proud, of her small family.  She especially doted on her grandchildren and was their biggest fan at their activities growing up.  She had a special place in her heart for her grandchildren and her great granddaughter.  Dixie is survived by her son Tracy (Portia) Knoblock; 2 grandchildren: Micah (Melissa) Knoblock and Gabi Knoblock; a great granddaughter, Palmer Knoblock; and a sister, Sally Pittman, all of Bremen.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and a brother, Tony Swartzlander.  Cremation will take place and a private family graveside service will be held at Bremen Cemetery at a later date.  Memorial contributions in Dixie’s name can be given to  the Marshall County Humane Society.
