In 1977, he relocated his family to Trinity, Texas, where he established a construction company and embarked on building and remodeling houses in the area. He developed a profound love for building and took remarkable pride in his work. As his sons grew, they joined him in the trade, learning carpentry skills from their father. Ray enjoyed taking long road trips with his wife, fishing with his wife and sons, tending to his yard, and spending quality time with his family, especially his grandchildren as they grew older.
