So sorry Marlene for your loss.Jim was always there when we needed him , a great brother inlaw.

Jim was a man among men,ecumenical to all.
One very typical volunteer action for the ultimate good of the whole St. Columbkille parish and school. Remains as a standout of how Jim lived his life.

When Columbia gas shut down the school during a natural gas shortage in the seventies.....Jim stepped forward offering his help to tFr. Radecky because he knew how to shut down the lines ,,,,safely.
He devised the solution....somehow got a hold of the necessary equipment....lined up a...

I was truly saddened when I learned of Jimmy's passing. He was as fine a foreman as one could ask for and I learned a great deal under his tutelage. I always considered him as a friend and I believe he saw me as the same. He will be missed. My condolences to the family.

James's Obituary

James Edward Govang, 79, of Broadview Heights, Ohio passed away Sunday April 15 surrounded by family after succumbing to his courageous battle against lung disease. Born in Cleveland, Ohio in 1938, he grew up in Maple Heights where he graduated from high school in 1956. Drafted into the Army, he was one of only a handful of unlisted men who tested into the emerging nuclear science program. He returned to Cleveland becoming a Master Plumber and retired from the City of Cleveland in 1994. He treasured, loved and is survived by Marlene (DeLisle) his wife of 53 years, their four children Patrick, Catherine (Braun), James, and Michael; their respective spouses and partners, Kelly Smith, Gordon McGuire, Christina (Ball) Govang, Laura (Giacomini) Govang; beloved grandchildren Emma and Michael McClure, Joshua Govang (Megan Lucas), Dana Braun, Paige and Michael Govang. He joins his Mother, Virginia (Corrigan), and Father, William Edward, and is also survived by his two brothers Edward and Lawrence. He loved the outdoors, reading and living his faith by selflessly lending a hand to any friend or family member in need.  His memory will live in all of our hearts forever. VISITATION FRIDAY APRIL 20, FROM 3-5 AND 6-8 P.M.  AT THE FORTUNA FUNERAL HOME, 7076 BRECKSVILLE RD., INDEPENDENCE, OHIO. MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL SATURDAY 11:00 A.M. AT ST. MATTHIAS CHURCH, 1200 W. SPRAGUE RD., PARMA, OH. Please meet at church on Saturday morning.
