Donald "Don" Lee Gurk, 68, of Kaleva and Bear Lake, died December 15, 2014, at his home in Kaleva. He was born November 19, 1946, in Ann Arbor, the son of Theron and Frances (Fidler) Gurk. Donald was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He served his country honorably during the Vietnam War and was stationed in Japan and Belgium. Don worked as a groundskeeper at Champion Hill and Pinecroft Golf Courses in Beulah. He also loved to hunt and fish. Don is survived by: his brother, Steven (Sylvia) Gurk of Pierson; his stepbrothers, Evert Best Sr. of Mesick and Vern (Dendra) Best of Bear Lake; and several nieces and nephews. Don was preceded in death by his parents and by his stepfather, Bernard Lenz. Memorial services will be held at a later date.
