I’ve known Don Shely since I was a kid. He was one of the kindest, sweetest person. He always had a smile on his face. About 23 years ago, Don taught me how to change brakes on my car and was so patient with me. Prayers for his family.

Donald Lewis Shely, 93, husband of the late Ruby Mae Peach Shely, passed away March 10, 2026 at his home in Anderson County. Born on October 5, 1932 in Anderson County, he was the son of the late Floyd William Shely and Gippie Shouse Shely.
Including his wife and parents, Mr. Shely was preceded in death by a son, Donnie Shely, and his siblings: Raymond, Nannie, Thelma, Bonnie, William, Harry, and Mary Hellen.
Mr. Shely served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and retired as a mechanic with Bluegrass Lincoln Mercury in Louisville. He enjoyed working on cars and was a member of the Glensboro Christian Church where he served as a deacon.
Mr. Shely is survived by his children, Debbie (Larry) Armstrong of Lawrenceburg, Carolyn Thurman of Shelbyville, and Darrell Shely of Lawrenceburg; 7 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, March 13, 2026 at Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home with Bro. Glenn Corn officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service on Friday from 11:00 AM until the time of service at 1:00 PM at the funeral home.
Burial with military honors will follow in Highview Cemetery, Chaplin, KY.
Serving as pallbearers will be Michael Shely, Robbie Armstrong, Ethan Thurman, Josh Thurman, Max Hombirg, and Allen Ray Shely.
