Donald "Don" Smith, 79, passed away peacefully on October 21st, 2025, with his loving wife of nearly 60 years, Brenda, by his side.
Born on August 24th, 1946, in Louisville, Mississippi, Don grew up with a passion for muscle cars that lasted his entire life. He loved everything about them-building motors, working on them in the garage, taking them out for a drive, and watching every race he could. His enthusiasm for cars was matched only by the love he had for his family.
Don was a devoted husband, a fantastic father, and the best Peepaw anyone could hope for. His kindness, humor, and warmth touched the lives of everyone who knew him, and his memory will continue to bring smiles and stories for years to come.
He will be deeply missed and forever loved by his family and friends.
Don was a loving husband to Brenda (nee Ledford), the proud father of Don Jr. (Christine) Smith, Edward (Jenifer) Smith and Monica (Mark) Maylath and a dear grandfather to Jacqueline, Andrew, Molly, Conor, Colin, Madelyn, Brandon, and great granddaughter, Evelyn.
He is also survived by his siblings Judy, Dewey, Aleda, Shirley, Zane, Kay, Emily, and Angie.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 24, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. with a prayer service at 11:30 a.m. at Markiewicz Funeral Home, P.C, 108 Illinois St., Lemont, IL 60439.
Interment private.
