My heart is so broken right now, but the comfort of The Lord will help us through. It makes it easier knowing Donald and daddy along with others gone on before are REJOICING with no pain , no suffering, and WE WILL SEE THEM IN GLORY. Donald Larry Stevens SR., 72 of Phelps, KY, passed away on Saturday, October 21, 2023 at the Pikeville Medical Center. Donald was born on September 10, 1951, in Pike County, KY, the son of the late Hubert Stevens and Dixie Hurley Stevens. He was also preceded in death by his first wife of forty-six years, Margaret Edwards Stevens; his infant son, Hubert Hershel Stevens; his siblings, Kenneth Stevens, Sheryl Kay Stevens, and Birdie Stevens Irick; two brothers-in-law, Henry Layne, and Everette Irick; his stepson-in-law, Terry Casey.
Donald was a retired coal miner and of the Church of God faith. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially at cookouts, where he was the master chef. He also enjoyed camping, going to church, porch sitting and drinking his coffee, horses and his sweet dogs, Holly, and Josie.
Survivors include his wife, Ola Stevens; his sons, Donald Larry (Valerie) Stevens Jr., Dwayne (Yvonne) Stevens; daughter, Tina (Bucky) Stevens Smith; stepdaughters, Angie Casey, and Paula Tolliver; his siblings, Shelva Layne, Jimmy (Helen) Stevens, and Vivian (Charlie) Ferrell; his grandchildren, Chrissy (Khristina) Perea, Paul (Sandy) Stevens, Phillip Stevens,
Courtney (Jamie) Dotson, Jarred (Tessa) Hayes, Patrick Stevens, Takira Stevens, Blake Stevens, Gaige Runyon, Kaylee Smith, Cayden Smith, and Dustyn (Ashley) Reinstetle. Donald also leaves behind four great-grandchildren, with one that is on the way, as well as a host of other loving family members and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, beginning at 1PM at The Lord's House, Phelps, KY, with Mitch Bowling and Chris Casey officiating. Entombment will follow at Mountain View Memory Gardens Mausoleum, Huddy, KY. Donald's family and friends will be serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held on Tuesday evening at the church from 6-9 PM, with special services at 7 PM. R.E. Rogers Funeral Home of Belfry, KY is serving the Stevens family.
