Donna Rose Loutzenhiser
February 26, 1943 ~ December 19, 2024
Age ~ 81
Donna Loutzenhiser, 81, of Ontonagon, Michigan, passed away at her home on December 19, 2024, after a fast progressive diagnosis of stage four brain cancer with close family by her side in her last days.
Donna was born on February 26, 1943, to Ignace James and Josephine Lucy (Bertasich) Szaroletta. She was the youngest of seven children which included Mary Forbes (Robert), Margaret Rolla (John), Stanley, Alfred (Yvonne Aubrey), Lawrence (Carol Szech), and Edmund (Joyce) DeCourt).
Donna spent most of her life with her beloved husband, Edward James Loutzenhiser, who passed away in 2016.
While residing in Chaska, Donna along with her husband Edward were members of the Guardian Angels Parish, where she played the organ for church services with her daughter Beth. She was also on the GA School Board.
Donna began her career as a Cosmetologist, and also had been employed at Polaris, Lakeside Toys, Larson-Olson, and HEI. Because of HEI closing and helping to retain her, she realized her dream was to become a nurse, working primarily with people who had dementia and alzheimers.
In January of 2000, Donna and Edward moved back home to Ontonagon, Michigan, where she volunteered with the Eagles Auxilary as President, and St. Vincent DePaul Food Pantry, and the SVDP Society as Conference President.
Donna loved to travel and had many great trips to North Dakota, and Minnesota where she got to see her great-granddaughter, Mila Bestul.
She will be greatly missed and leaves behind many loved ones including her daughter, Beth Oakley (her husband Don, passed away in 2019), sons, Jay Loutzenhiser, Wade (Jennifer) Loutzenhiser, Daniel Loutzenhiser (Rachael), brother-in-law, Mark (Denise) Loutzenhiser, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Donna R. Loutzenhiser chose to be cremated and there will be visitation beginning at 10:00 AM with a Memorial Mass celebrated at 11:00 AM on May 9, 2025 at Holy Family Catholic Church, located at 515 Pine Street, Ontonagon, Michigan. Fr. Michael Jacobus will be officiating.
