Doris met her husband, Norman Lee Byers, and they married November 9th, 1956. She held positions such as Freeport Journal Standard reporter and Swiss Colony office worker briefly. She enjoyed her time with the Friends of the Lanark Library, and shared her hobbies: reading mysteries, watching old-time movies, sharing recipes, restaurant critiques, reiki, lapidary and jewelry making. Their winters spent in Sun City created more opportunities to share her hobbies. She will be best remembered for her wry sense of humor in all of her storytelling, and ardent MSNBC watching.
