My sincere condolences to the entire family. Doris was one of my favorites from St. John both as a singer and friend. I am so glad I was able to talk to and hug her while I was home in May. Doris's Obituary
Doris R (Jones) Carbins was born on November 27, 1950, in Gary, IN to the late Jessie Jones, Sr. and Mae Catherine Jones.
She was a proud graduate of Roosevelt High School Class of 1968. After high school, she went on to work for Speigel before gaining employment with the City of Gary Human Relations Commission, where she remained until retirement after 42 years of service.
Doris was a songstress that never turned down an opportunity to share her gift. She had a passion for helping others in any way she could.
She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Cordell Carbins; brother, Jessie Jones, Jr.; sisters: Geraldine (Everett) Gunn and Alfreda Brodie.
Doris passed from time to eternity on October 25, 2025, surrounded by those that loved her most. She leaves to cherish precious memories her husband, Charles Carbins, Sr.; children: Claudette, Charles, Jr., Cornelia, Aaron and Danielle Carbins; grandchildren: Maurice Reed, Makala Carbins, Quashaundra Jones, Naudea Carbins, Dorian Harrison and Charli Carbins; sisters: Jeanette (Charles) Reagins, Velma Jones and Renita (Quincy) Merriweather; brother, Jeffery Jones, Sr. as well as nieces, nephews, other family and countless friends and colleagues.
