I second what my sister Pam said regarding the friendship between Doris & my mom, Joan Flynn. My mom was left a widow at a young age (I say that because I am that age right now -- 61), and her friendship with Doris helped ease the sorrow of losing my dad as a companion. Her eyes lit up when she talked about the many adventures she had with Doris. There were tales of travel to Italy to visit "the aunts", a "tall ship" cruise in the Mediterranean, a bus trip around Spain and another to...

Doris was a wonderful friend to my mom, Joan L. Flynn and a kind and dear person to our family. Joan and Doris travelled the globe together and enjoyed these adventures immensely. They also had an amazing friendship, which I greatly admired and our family cherished. True friends are hard to come by and Doris was that and much more. Our family was heartbroken to hear about Doris's struggle in last few last months of life. We sincerely wish her loving family well and offer our deepest sympathy....

Doris, It's hard to end a friendship!
After forty years of friendship, we will always remember the great moments we have shared, those we have cried, and laughed over...
hunting for wild berries in the never-ending dunes of Cape Cod, and the warm pies that followed, arguing vigorously our political or religious issues while enjoying great Friday night meals at friends' homes, or mulling over life's mysteries while skiing or golfing...
So, maybe our friendship hasn't quite ended....

Doris was our neighbor across the street when we first moved to Winchester. She made us feel welcome and helped me connect to the community. We had a great neighborhood and Doris was an integral part of the neighborhood. I haven't seen her for a few years and regret not staying in closer touch, but have such fond memories. My best to Joe, Paul and Ted.
