Doris Darlene Valentin, 91, was born to Rev. Adrian Rudolph and Ruby H. Powell on December 8, 1933, in Cherryvale, Kansas. She passed away in Blanchard on December 3, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones.
Doris was a cool mom and an even cooler grandma, with a youthful spirit that made her easy to love and impossible to forget. She started and ended her day reading her bible, she had a compassionate heart, and a way of being there when it mattered most. Family always came first. She raised six children and made each of them feel seen, supported, and loved.
She adored her Yorkie, Pennie, and had a flair for fun and style, loving to shop and delighting in shoes and jewelry. Elvis Presley music was often playing somewhere nearby, setting the tone for her love of dancing, especially nights out at the VFW with friends.
Doris was endlessly creative. She sewed, quilted, and crocheted, and was well known for making special Easter outfits year after year. She was active in Eastern Star for many years. She poured her creativity into ceramics cleaning and painting them. Doris also found joy in diamond art. When she wasn’t creating, she was often gathered around a table playing Five Crowns with family and friends.
Her passing leaves behind a void that cannot be filled, but her love, laughter, and unmistakable spirit will be carried forward by everyone who was fortunate enough to know her.
Doris is survived by her children Debbie and Michael Grindstaff of Edmond, Diana and Haydn Evans of Blanchard, Don and wife Barabra Valentin of Dallas, and Dana Valentin of Missouri; daughter-in-law Jeannie Valentin; grandchildren Michael and wife Tricia Grindstaff, Jeff and wife Colleen Grindstaff, Amanda and husband Travis Hill, Christopher Evans, John Mook, Danny Mook, Samantha Smith, James Houliston, Eric and wife Belinda Valentin, and Desiree and husband Jacob Smith; fourteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-granddaughters; and many other relatives and friends.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents Rev. Adrian Rudolph and Ruby H. Powell; her six siblings Leonard, Wayne, Blanche, Ruth, Kenneth, and Maxine; and her oldest son Dan Valentin, all of whom she is reunited with in the afterlife.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, December 29, 2025, at the Eisenhour Funeral Home chapel with an inurnment to follow at Blanchard Cemetery.
