Doris M. Waldschmidt

Doris and I were neighbors for over 30 years. We shared many a glass of good wine and good food. Meeting at the mailboxes was almost a daily happening until she could no longer make it up the hill. Her love of Brown County, the art community and her warm hospitality will remain with me forever. I considered Doris a great friend and confidant.

During my time living up the lane from Doris, she proved to be a wonderful neighbor and friend. I found her seemingly boundless energy and can-do attitude a constant source of inspiration . She was a rare mix of unpretentious refinement and self sufficient pioneer spirit. She chose to make her home among the tree, birds and creatures great and small and her love, respect and delight in the natural world was evident. I will miss her but I will never forget her!
