Dorothea's Obituary

Dorothea Velma Mouratis Warren, 96, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, October 6, 2025.

Born on December 2, 1928, in Minot, North Dakota to Theodore and Olga Mouratis, she went on to graduate from Minot State Teachers College (now Minot State University).  Dorothea retired from teaching at the former Commonwealth College in Hampton. She was a member of Liberty Live Church, singing in the Worship and Heart Throbs Choir, and a member of the Busy Bee Class.

Preceded in death by her parents, her husband James E. Warren, Jr.; son, Theodore Warren; and her sister and sister-in-law; she is survived by her son Neill Warren; daughter Kathlene Grauberger; grandsons, Matthew Grauberger (Abbey) and John Grauberger; granddaughters, Marissa Buggy and Krysta Warren; great-grandchild, Kingston Moore; and nieces and nephews, Amy, Sally, Vee Ann,  and Ted.   

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 AM on Monday, October 13, 2025, at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home, 245 S. Armistead Avenue, Hampton by Pastor Daniel Ethridge and Pastor Joe Hunt. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service from 10-11 AM at the funeral home.  A graveside service will be held at 1 PM on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, where Dorothea will be laid to rest with her husband, James, at Quantico National Cemetery.  Dorothea requested that everyone attending her celebration wear cheerful and bright colors to honor her.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Liberty Live Church “Fairview Heights Campus” to further support Dorothea’s love for music.(click here to donate).
