Dorothy Berley was born on October 7, 1941, and she passed away peacefully on February 7, 2026. Dorothy was a devoted Christian whose faith guided every part of her life, serving as a Christian example for all who knew her. She was a beloved and supportive wife to Jerry and they both enjoyed attending the annual Memphis School of Preaching lectureships, gospel meetings and gospel singings. She faithfully taught Sunday school and lived out her faith through kindness, compassion, and service to others.
Dorothy treasured every moment with her husband of 65 years, her sweetheart since the eighth grade. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose family meant everything to her.
Dorothy worked in the Woodlands Division of International Paper Company, retiring in 1990 after many dedicated years. She gave generously of her time as a volunteer with the Ouachita County Medical Center Hospital Auxiliary, where she served as local president, district chair, and state president. In her free time, she enjoyed traveling, reading, working puzzles, and visiting with family and friends. She will be remembered for her gentle spirit, strong faith, and the love she shared with everyone around her.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Clem and Iola Eslinger Whitmer. She was also preceded by her brothers, Glen Whitmer, Clem Whitmer, and Don Whitmer, and a granddaughter Jennifer Renea Callaway.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry Berley, her children, Mark and Tracy Berley, and Terri and James Callaway, five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be at Proctor Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 10, at 6:00-8:00pm. Services will be held at Proctor Chapel on Wednesday, February 11, at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Camden, AR.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that memorials be made to Children's Homes, Inc., 5515 Walcott Road, Paragould, AR 72450.

Jerry, Mark and Terri, Dorothy was one of the most wonderful, Christ-like people I've ever known. She and I met at IP Woodlands Accounting Department and thus began a friendship that has lasted more than 50 years! She was definitely a role model. Jerry, Jim and I so enjoyed the time the four of us were in Washington DC and have treasured that memory. It has been one of the richest blessings of my life to know Dorothy and you. I know this is a time of sadness. May you feel the deep peace from our Lord that passes all understanding. She has certainly left a wonderful inspiring legacy and will be remembered fondly by all who knew her. I will remember her grace, warmth, loving spirit, and true loyal friendship for the rest of my days. I'm so thankful to have known her and to have known her love. I'm thankful for your friendship, too, Jerry. May you feel God's sustaining grace now and in all the days to come. With deepest sympathy and love to you all.

Knew her for many years, especially with my grandchildren growing up at the baseball field. Worked with her at Woodlands for a short few years. Truer words cannot be spoken about the tribute to here legacy. She was certainly a wonderful example of a Christian lady and always cheered people up with her contiagious smile. Praying for God's peace, comfort and strength for the family during this difficult time. God bless each and everyone of you.
