Dorothy Berley was born on October 7, 1941, and she passed away peacefully on February 7, 2026. Dorothy was a devoted Christian whose faith guided every part of her life, serving as a Christian example for all who knew her. She was a beloved and supportive wife to Jerry and they both enjoyed attending the annual Memphis School of Preaching lectureships, gospel meetings and gospel singings. She faithfully taught Sunday school and lived out her faith through kindness, compassion, and service to others.
Dorothy treasured every moment with her husband of 65 years, her sweetheart since the eighth grade. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose family meant everything to her.
Dorothy worked in the Woodlands Division of International Paper Company, retiring in 1990 after many dedicated years. She gave generously of her time as a volunteer with the Ouachita County Medical Center Hospital Auxiliary, where she served as local president, district chair, and state president. In her free time, she enjoyed traveling, reading, working puzzles, and visiting with family and friends. She will be remembered for her gentle spirit, strong faith, and the love she shared with everyone around her.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Clem and Iola Eslinger Whitmer. She was also preceded by her brothers, Glen Whitmer, Clem Whitmer, and Don Whitmer, and a granddaughter Jennifer Renea Callaway.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry Berley, her children, Mark and Tracy Berley, and Terri and James Callaway, five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be at Proctor Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 10, at 6:00-8:00pm. Services will be held at Proctor Chapel on Wednesday, February 11, at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Camden, AR.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that memorials be made to Children's Homes, Inc., 5515 Walcott Road, Paragould, AR 72450.
