Dorothy's Obituary

Dorothy Louise Jennings, 103, passed away August 10, 2025.  She was born Nov. 12, 1921.  She was the youngest of 8 children born of Sallie Sepulveda Smith and Harvey S. Smith.  She grew up in southern California and graduated from Canoga Park High School.  Her helpful nature was shown early as she tended her parents who died in 1940 and 1942.  Then she went to work in Burbank in the WWII aircraft building industry (Rosie the Riveter).  That is where she met a young Marine Odes “Odie” Jennings.  They married Oct 30, 1943.  Two children, Bruce and Sally arrived after the war.  They moved to Sebastopol in 1957.  They were married for 70+ years until Odie passed in 2014.  She loved working in her garden, crafting, canning and taking care of her family.  The also traveled and loved dancing.  Through it all the Methodist Church was their rock with Odie singing in the choir and Dorothy greeting everyone as they entered the church.

She is the last of her generation.  Her five brothers, two sisters and spouses are gone.  Her precious daughter Sally died in February 2025.  She is survived by her son Bruce (Rhoni), five grandchildren; Melanie, Matthew (Jennifer), Chad (Jamie), Samantha (Brooks) and Andrew (Lee) plus seven great-grandchildren.

Dorothy was one of a kind.  She will be greatly missed.  There will be memorial service on 26 August at 1100 at Pleasant Hills Memoria Park in Sebastopol.
