Donna and I had the privilege and blessing of knowing Dorothy as her pastor, friend and neighbor for 8 1/2 years going back to August, 1973-Dec., 1981. Despite the fact that we left to go as overseas missionaries, and then to serve as a pastor in Miami, FL, for many years, Dorothy and her husband, Harvey maintained close ties with us as encouragers, and supporters wherever God led us. Dorothy's Obituary

Dorothy Elizabeth Lawson (nee: Kirkpatrick), 99, of Lansdowne, VA, passed away on Wednesday, November 26, 2025. She was born August 6, 1926 in Ashburn, VA to Mary Elizabeth and John Emory Kirkpatrick. She was a bookkeeper/office manager during her working years, ultimately retiring from Harvey's Kitchens and Baths. She was a life-long Baptist, serving in many roles. She faithfully served as Sunday school teacher, was active in the WMU, worked with the GAs, and sang in the choir. She married Harvey Lawson on May 16, 1959 and they resided in Sterling, VA until moving to Lansdowne Woods in 2002 to spend their retirement years.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Harvey Lawson; nephew, James "Jimmy" Daniel Kirkpatrick, Jr. of Hillsboro, VA; nieces, Jane Ann Kirkpatrick of Hillsboro, VA and Julie Lynn Burr (Mike) of Hillsboro, VA; sister-in-law, Janet Kirkpatrick of Hillsboro, VA; 3 great-nephews; 2 great-nieces; 2 great-great-nephews; 1 great-great-niece; and special friends, Wesley and Lisa Robey and their daughters, Valerie and Victoria (Cody) of Kitty Hawk, NC.

Services will be held at Colonial Funeral Home of Leesburg on Thursday, December 4, 2025 at 11:00 AM with family to receive guests beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will take place at Sterling Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Dorothy's name in lieu of flowers to the Leesburg Baptist Church Mission Fund.
