Dorothy Mahnich

Dorothy Louise Mahnich, 90, formerly of Spring Valley, died Tuesday, November 19, 2013, at Presence Pine View Care Center in St. Charles, IL.A memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, November 25, at the Parish of the Nativity of Our Lord (510 Richard Mautino Drive). The Rev. Patrick DeMeulemeester will officiate. There will be no visitation. The Barto Funeral Home, Spring Valley, is assisting with the arrangements.Dorothy was born on October 26, 1923 in Spring Valley, IL to Angelo and Giovanna (Trogolo) Pricco. She married Henry Mahnich on June 22, 1946 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Spring Valley.Dorothy graduated from Hall High School, and later worked as the secretary for the principal at Hall High School. She was a member of the former St. Anthony Catholic Church, the Mother Cabrini Sodality of the church, St. Margaret's Hospital Auxiliary, and she served as a volunteer at St. Margaret's.Dorothy is survived by her two daughters, Patricia (Donald) Fabian of Sugar Grove, and Linda (Kenneth) Smith of South Elgin; and three grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her husband on November 1, 2004; two sisters; and one brother.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her memory may be made to the Richard A. Mautino Memorial Library, 215 E. Cleveland St., Spring Valley.
