Dorothy Bugg Smith, 91 passed away Monday, October 27, 2025 at her residence in Gloucester. Born in Brunswick County, Virginia to Watkins and Rachel Bugg, she moved to Gloucester in 1997 after retiring from a career in nursing.
Dorothy enjoyed many things in life especially watching her grandchildren in all their sporting events. She was an avid cross stitcher and gave many of her beautiful works to her friends and family.
She is survived by her daughters, Sheryle B. Smith and Nancy S. Yeager and her husband, Robert. Her grandchildren, Watkins and his Fiance, Kyla, Hattie M. Yeager and one great-grandchild, Waverly. She is also survived by her sister, Ann Barnes and husband, Wayne and two nephews, Scott and his wife Angie and Ryan and his wife Terra.
As per her wishes there will be no memorial service. Memorials can be made in her memory to the Gloucester Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad, Inc. or to a favorite charity.
