Dorothy S. Yufer, 83, of Newton, died Friday March 29 at home after a long illness. Dot was born in Fort Davis, TX, a daughter of Richard and Alice Swartz. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Emmy.

She had a brilliant career in military analysis culminating in being one of the first women supergrades in the Pentagon and the first woman vice president at the Navy's think tank- The Center for Naval Analyses. She retired at 52 to enjoy rural life in West Virginia. Home restoration, gardening, making jewelry ( SpecteStones), and spoiling her Persian cat and her husband (in that order) dominated her time. Dot was widely loved and respected.
