Charlie was my best friend in Florida for many years. He was my neighbor and later sold me his Villa when he purchased another home in the area. I will miss Charlie immensely. Jack McLaughlin.

Saying prayers for Charles family. I worked for Charlie and David back in the early 70's. That was a long time ago, but I still have good memories of my time there. Linda

Dr. Charles W. Myers, 89, of West Lafayette passed away on September 18 at IU Arnett Hospital in Lafayette, IN. Charles was born on January 5, 1936 in Danville, IL, the son of the late Wisher and Frances Myers. He grew up in Veedersburg, IN and graduated in 1954 as valedictorian of his class from Veedersburg High School. While growing up, he worked at his family-owned businesses, including the Myers Department Store and drive-in theaters in Danville, IL and Terre Haute, IN. Charles then studied at Indiana University where he played the trumpet in the “Marching Hundred”. He then transferred to Hanover College where he was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity, played the trumpet in the college band and sang in the college choir. He graduated from there in 1958 with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry. After graduation he returned to Indiana University where he worked on a PhD in microbiology and virology. Charles married his wife, Sandra Salisbury, whom he met while at Hanover, on December 27,1959. They moved to Cincinnati, Ohio where he worked for Interchemical Corporation before entering Indiana University School of Dentistry. Following graduation in1965, they moved to Attica, IN where he practiced dentistry at the Myers Dental Clinic, alongside his brother, David, for 42 years retiring from dentistry in 2007. While in Attica he was President of the Attica School Board and President of Attica Williamsport Lions Club. He was also a member of the Rotary Club, the Attica Community Foundation and the First United Methodist Church where he served as Chairman of the Trustees, on the Pastor Parish Relations Committee and sang in the church choir for many years. In retirement Charles and Sandra spent many happy years in Venice, FL, first as snowbirds then as permanent residents. He volunteered his time by “giving back” to this community for 15 years by providing dental care at the Senior Friendship Center for those seniors who met low-income guidelines. He also enjoyed the work and fellowship at the Venice Theatre making theatre sets and scenery. They attended the Venice Symphony, the Venice Concert Band and were members of the Christ Methodist Church. Charles and Sandra loved to travel and made it a point to visit all 50 states. He had fond memories of international travel with their grandchildren taking them on trips of their choosing. He also enjoyed reading, golf, and playing bridge with friends. The couple moved back to Indiana in 2021 and were residents at Westminster Village in West Lafayette, IN. Charles is survived by his wife Sandra of 65 years, his son Dr. Jeffrey Myers, his daughter Dr. Julia (Brian) Ross, five grandchildren (Emily, Brady and Sophie Myers), Meg (Zack) Stewart and Dr. Amanda Ross, and one great grandson (Leo Stewart). He also leaves behind his brother, Dr. David (Trudie) Myers, sister-in-law Sharyl (Dave) Lyon and several nieces and a nephew. Services will be held at the Old Church, 304 E. Main St., Attica, IN on Saturday September 27, with visitation at 1pm followed by a memorial service at 2pm. Entombment will be later that afternoon at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens, West Lafayette, IN. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Indiana University School of Dentistry or to the Venice Theater in Venice, FL.
