Not sure what to say?

I just found out about Dr. Whitaker’s passing and I want to let his loved ones know that he was the very best doctor I’ve ever known. I was his patient for the past 20 years and there is no finer physician in the world as far as I’m concerned. He perfectly balanced compassion for his patients, medical knowledge & expertise, & allowing his patients agency in determining what interventions were appropriate when. I am devastated by his loss, and I was just his patient. I imagine his family must...

I am deeply saddened to hear of Dr. Whitaker's passing. He was critical to the care of my Mom when she was diagnosed with ALS in 2012. She became Dr. Whitaker's patient in January 2013 until her passing in December 2013. My Mom (Louise Bubak) loved him and once she found out he loved Siamese cats, she started to bring him her figurines. He was an extraordinary doctor and the world has lost a critical, caring doctor. My heart goes out to his family.

I am deeply saddened to hear of Dr Whitaker's passing. I was a patient of his. I loved working with Dr Whitaker, I remember feeling like he was a genius detective when he discovered I had an ultra-rare autoimmune disease, leading to treatment. He got a real thrill from putting the evidence together that no other doctor had, all while being in good humor and leaving me feeling reassured. It was a pleasure watching his brain work and I really valued his no nonsense approach to communicating...

I am shocked and saddened by the loss of one of the best doctor’s I have ever known. I was diagnosed with a neuromuscular disorder 9 years ago and have been a patient of Dr. Whitaker’s ever since. I’m at a loss for the proper words to describe what an extraordinary doctor and person he was. He was very kind and caring, and had the best bedside manner. He had a very unique sense of humor which I enjoyed and appreciated. I never felt like I was visiting a doctor, but rather a long time...

I was shocked when I first heard the news. I was a patient of Dr Whittaker and he was the one who figured out that I have Pompe Disease. I'll always be forever grateful for his kind demeanor, love, and compassion for me even though my diagnosis is a tough one. I'm happy I ended up at HFSC and that I met him. I also enjoyed our conversations about our shared faith in Jesus Christ as our Savior. I will miss him a lot and am praying for his friends and family as we mourn as one.

My heart is saddened at the passing of this extraordinary physician. He treated my late husband Kurt to move through his journey with ALS. He was was honest, straightforward, supportive and wonderful to the both of us. We couldn't have found a better physician anywhere. And, always, a gentleman. My condolences go out to his family and to the staff at HFSC who worked by his side.

I am very saddened to hear of Dr. Whitaker’s passing. I only learned of it today. I worked with Charles at UConn Health in the neuromuscular clinic. He was passionate about this field and it was demonstrated in the caring manner he had for his patients.
Aside from his patients, Charles talked proudly about Caroline and Elizabeth as well as his guitar/music. He will definitely be missed! My sincere condolences to his family. God Bless!

I am so so sorry to learn of the passing of Dr. Whitaker. He was a beloved doctor to my uncle before his passing, and my sister and mother’s doctor for Muscular Dystrophy. I was always busy working for most of the appointments, but when I did see him, he was really the sunshine to my families worries in this tough medical diagnosis. We will miss Dr. Whitaker so so much. I send hope and love to his family, may you all have peace and healing in this difficult time.

I will miss Dr. Whitaker as a very knowledgeable and caring Dr. He always carefully explained my condition to the extent of my understanding.
