Not sure what to say?

Dr. Jervey made me fall in love with history. He had a reputation as a tough professor so some students avoided his classes, but I had him my freshman year (1979) and continued to take his upper level classes for my remaining four years at Radford even though I wasn’t a history major. His exams were so hard that he had a prep session the class before, and if you could keep up it was positively exhilarating! He taught us how to think. Gone but never forgotten.

Just now learning of Dr Jervey’s passing as my Radford U Magazine arrived today. To his family I am so sorry for your loss.

What an awesome teacher, encourager, and one of the nicest people I have ever met. I had him for history in the late 1970’s. He was very kind to a freshman who was very far from home (New Jersey at the time) for the 1st time.

Well done good and faithful servant.

Dr. Jervey was one of my favorite professors during my four years at Radford College. He made US history come alive with interesting little details about the founding fathers, especially those connected to Virginia. He was my professor during my Freshman year 1961-62. Little did I know that this was his first year at Radford College. I was fortunate to have him during my first year to inspire me to be the best I could be. Some years later when I lived in Huntington Beach, California, he...

Dr. Jervey was my favorite history professor at Radford. He was blessed with a great personality from which we all benefited and greatly enjoyed. Once when he was passing through my hometown during spring break, Dr. Jervey stopped to visit with us and tour the farm and Lake Chesdin. My mother treated him to one of her super, home cooked meals. He kept the meal lively, and she kept the food coming. We had a wonderful visit. He will be greatly missed. My sympathies to the Jervey family...

Dr Jervey was my history professor at Radford University in the early 80's -- and also taught my husband when he attended RU. In the Spring he would allow us to go outdoors to hear his lectures. I had the privilege of getting to know him better later in life when I was Guest & Volunteer Services Manager at Carilion New River Valley Medical Center. My first day in that position in 2008 -- I was elated to learn that Dr. Jervey was one of my volunteers. Over the years our friendship was...

Dr. Jervy was the best history professor I ever had at Radford College. He was my professor in the 1961 - 1962 school year. I learned so much from him about how to teach and how to inspire my students. I am happy that he had such a long and wonderful life. My sympathy to those who mourn his passing.

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.

Mrs. Jervey, Warren, and Tommy,
I was very privileged to known your father from Grove UMC and to have studied under him at RU. I took many of his classes and we developed quite a friendship. He was a great mentor, and always encouraged me to follow my dreams and wishes wherever they might take me. He was a great teacher and influenced many students and people. God bless each of you now and always.

Tommie

Such a kind and nice man. I am so sorry for your loss.
