David was our doctor for the 15 years we were in Blairsville. He was such a compassionate man and when he couldn’t help you he knew who to send you to. My heart goes out to Lita and the children. Thoughts and prayers as you deal with your loss knowing one day you will see him again. In Christian love

Dr. Gowder was a wonderful doctor. Delivered both my boys. Was always so caring. Prayers for his family

What a wonderful Godly man full of wisdom. However, his best trait is a lover of Jesus!

Dr. Gowder, I celebrate your heavenly re-birth, but deeply mourn your absence here with us on this foreign terrain we call home. I, in my naivety am able to call you a friend, but seeing such an outpouring of love for you upon your passing has put your heart for others into perspective. You once said you thought of me as one of your own children. I often think about that. Thank you for speaking to me in a way my own Dad couldn’t. Thank you for being God’s voice when I needed Him the most. I...

I knew David as a school mate, husband to a beloved cousin, a skilled physician, a counselor, a loving father and grandfather , a friend, teacher and so much more. I can’t think of any person I respect more than David. He met adversity with such humility and grace. He gave the best advice. He had such a great smile. He loved his family so completely. In him you could not fail to see the love of Jesus.
Rejoicing at the thought of David whole and well in heaven, but heartbroken for his...

Lita and girls, Larry and I are so sorry for your loss. I worked with David when he first came to work at Union General. He was kind and compassionate, and a great doctor. Praying for you in the days ahead.

The beautiful obituary is a fitting tribute to Dr. Gowder. David was a perfect gentleman, a fine physician, a good citizen, a loving family man and a pleasure to be with. Lamentably, our contacts were limited and brief. Nevertheless, Madeline and I are proud to call him our friend. Lita and the girls, your devotion, courage and strength were models for the rest of us. Who could have done more ? In the best and in the worst of times. With Love and heartfelt sympathy, Dudley Bowen
