I just received a letter about Dr. Myers passing this week. It broke my heart. He was my doctor for nearly 20 years. He was always very kind to me, and I will really miss him. Love and prayers to his family.

He delivered my daughter and offered encouraging words about my health and our retiring around the same time. I will sorely miss him. My deepest sympathy for his family.

I was saddened by the news I received, when making an appointment. Dr. Meyer was my doctor for 11 years. He was professional and had a great bedside manner. He will be truly missed.
My sympathies to all his family and friends.

I'm saddened to hear about the passing of a wonderful human being, Dr. Juliane Meyer. I started with Dr. Meyer about 12 years ago. My first pregnancy was a miscarriage ( I was living in PA at the time), but Dr. Meyer encouraged me to stay strong and keep the faith. I remember the day he called me after I had blood tests completed to inform me that I was pregnant; he seemed just as excited. He recommended a wonderful doctor within the practice to care for me through my pregnancy, Dr. Lynne...

We will all miss Dr. Meyer. He was my doctor, my sister's doctor and my sister-in-law's doctor. He and Sandy always made my appointments easy even when the news was not so good. I will forever miss his kind bedside manner and his jokes. Not only was he my doctor for many years, I felt like he was my friend and advisor. There will never be another doctor like Dr. Meyer! My heartfelt sympathy to all his family and Sandy.

Dr. Meyer was my doctor for 30+ years. My heart truly aches at hearing of his passing. He was not only a very special doctor, he was a very special person, a very special man, a gentleman in every sense of the word. The earthly world has truly lost one of the greatest, most compassionate human beings ever, while Heaven has gained an Angel. Words can't express my sorrow. My condolences, thoughts, and prayers, to the family and the medical community. What a great man, what a great legacy.

Dr. Julien H. Meyer, Jr., 74, of Roanoke, passed away peacefully after a short illness on June 17. The son of Dr. Julien H. Meyer, Sr., a physician, and Dorothy Rose Kahn, Dr. Meyer, Jr. was born in Roanoke where he lived all his life other than during his education and medical training. After graduating from Mercersburg Academy, he earned a B.A. at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and his medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond. After completing his internship and residency as a fellow and chief resident in obstetrics and gynecology at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, he returned in 1974 to Roanoke to join Physicians to Women, the medical practice founded by his father, where he remained practicing until his death. He served as Chairman of the Department of OB/GYN at Carilion Roanoke Community Hospital from 1987 to 1991 and was a Past President of the South Atlantic Association of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. In 2016, Dr. Meyer was recognized with the Robert L. A. Keeley Healing Arts Award for his service to the medical community of the Roanoke Valley. Dr. Meyer was particularly proud of his support and mentorship of students and residents at the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine. An avid fly fisherman, Dr. Meyer and his wife Lynn traveled the world to fish and go on safari. He was also active in Roanoke Valley community affairs, including serving on the board of the Community Foundation for Roanoke Valley and as the medical director of Planned Parenthood for many years. Dr. Meyer is survived by his wife of 28 years, Lynn Huff Meyer, passing on their wedding anniversary, as well as two sons from a previous marriage, Julien III and Jeff, and a sister, Carol. He is also survived by four grandchildren. Dr. Meyer was a Past President of Temple Emanuel, where a funeral will be held at 11 AM on June 20. Private burial services will immediately follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to Temple Emanuel, the Foundation for Roanoke Valley or the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine.
