Not sure what to say?

Michael, you were a gentleman and a scholar , whom I was fortunate to enjoy some great moments with. I am so glad I was able to grant you and Candace that special visit to Anfield (despite the result) as well as allowing me to visit you on campus in beautiful Wilmington a number of times. Your wise words will stay with me. You Will Never Walk Alone Mike.

I met Michael in 2009 when I interviewed for a position in the Office of International Students and Scholars at West Virginia University (WVU). He served as the Director and I was interviewing for the Assistant. Director position. I was pleasantly surprised when he offered me the position introducing me to the fascinating world of International Education.

On my first day reporting to work he welcomed me. To my surprise he went out of his way and took time to drive me to the...

I’m so shocked and saddened to learn of Mike’s passing. He was truly a good person. Rest in Peace Michael, from one native Parkersburger to another.

I am very saddened by and so sorry to hear of Michael's passing. I worked with Michael at UNCW in the Office of Education Abroad. Michael and I first bonded over our ties to West Virginia. He would swing by my office to catch up and those conversations always brought joy. I loved to hear about the places he had just traveled to and about what trips he had coming up. I remember him always asking if I needed anything as he would head out. I had I am grateful to have worked with Michael and am...

Michael would not remember me - I knew him as a young child. He was named "Michael" and his mother insisted he be called that and never the shorter version "Mike". She seemed to know he was born for greatness. He was never famous; but, he was known by many around the world. Like so many great people, his light shone brightly and then it was gone. He will be missed.

Michael was both an amazing coworker and mentor to me during his time at UNCW. As a first-generation college student, studying abroad was not on my to-do list. But, because of Michael's contributions to UNCW International Studies, I was able to take my first ever flight to Greece and experience all the good things traveling had to offer. I am grateful to be one of the many students who received the pleasure of knowing him.

I was deeply saddened to hear the news of Michael’s passing. My heart goes out to you during this incredibly difficult time.
I had the true privilege of working closely with Michael on our international projects, and I valued our collaboration more than words can say. Whether we were navigating complex plans or meeting in different settings around the world, Michael’s warmth and generosity turned every professional challenge into a wonderful experience. He had a rare way of making...

Micheal was a truly kind and generous mentor who left a lasting impact on my life. From the moment we met in Dubai to the day I graduated from WVU, he offered guidance, reassurance, and unwavering support during a very uncertain time in my journey.

His patience, encouragement, and genuine belief in others made my transition to the University of West Virginia smooth and filled with confidence. I will always remain deeply grateful for his kindness and the example of integrity and...
