Not sure what to say?

I was a professor of physics at Emory University in the mid 1980s and convinced the other faculty members there that we should use Prof. Serway's text books over several others. Everyone agreed that it was the right choice. I still have copies of both versions (the two volumes for scientists and engineers sit right next to my Halliday and Resnick here in my office at Brookhaven Nat'l Lab). One of my daughters attended JMU so I visited the campus many times, but in the mid 2000s and after...

I am very sorry for your loss. I knew Dr Serway as neighborhood kid. I was in awe of him and he was always kind. The whole Serway family was a great addition to our Potsdam neighborhood. I hung out with Mark, who always had such great love and respect for his dad. As the weeks pass, and as you return to life's routine, may you continue to feel comforted by the love and support of family and friends.

My condolences to the entire Serway family. I never met Dr. Serway, however I knew sister Sophie & husband Fritz Pelose. My late father was in the Army with Fritz during WWII. As a child I remember visiting at their home or them visiting us. I also met sister Freda Orbinati a few times when I visited Sophie at her Oakwood St., Rome, NY home.

So much enjoyed talking to this exceptionally wise man. We also liked talking about Switzerland as my parents were born there. Stunned to learn he died! Hope he did not suffer too much.

Uncle Ray will be greatly missed. He was a scholar, a musician and a family man. I am blessed to have known him. I enjoyed our talks and sharing our common family history dating back to Mardin Turkey. He was open minded and inquisitive. I only wish that I got to spend more time with him. I enjoyed reading his autobiography and physics books that he had sent me. He was a good man from a golden age. May God rest his soul and may God bless the entire family for we have lost a treasure. ...

With all of our love, thoughts and prayers for the entire Serway family, we will always cherish our memories of Ray’s kindness and good humor.

Ray was good friend in high school and at Utica College. He was always ready to help when needed. May he rest in peace.

In memory of a wonderful uncle and a family treasure. We love you and will miss your smiling light in our world.
